Emerging Trends: Facebook Insights into eCommerce and Digital Engagement [Infographic]

The COVID-19 pandemic changed the way we engage digitally. The shift happened not just in human interactions, but also in brand interactions, according to Emerging Trends: Facebook Insights survey commissioned to Ipsos. The market research firm asked 12,500 respondents between the ages of 18 to 64. The results identified a set of emerging trends that will shape communication in the future:

1) Convenience gap

Around 90% of the respondents want to simplify their lives to free up more time for various reasons, such as spending more time with loved ones, getting back in shape, learning a new skill, or traveling. Around 86% of those who want convenience are ready to pay for products or services that will help them achieve that goal. To take advantage of this, focus on how your brand makes lives more convenient for customers.

2) The entrepreneur’s edge

Given how the pandemic resulted in job losses, many people turned to digital tools to augment their incomes. As a result, Facebook Marketplace experienced a boom in users who use the platform to buy and sell. It’s no shock that 91% of the respondents support local businesses. If you run a small- to medium-sized business, you should leverage this fact to get the support of customers in your area.
