One notable trend about Instagram is its continues growth in relation to its user base. Showing user growth year after year Instagram currently has over 1 billion active users as of June 2018. This continued growth means Instagram isn’t going away anytime soon and remains a popular platform for users to upload pictures, art, and short videos.

This user growth also follows people’s weekly habits as some of the most popular times to upload are from midday to the afternoon Wednesday through Friday.

A Visual Medium

While other social media focuses on words Instagram is dedicated to the visual. Pictures account for 91.07% of all Instagram posts and currently, 95 million photos are uploaded every day. Since its beginnings, Instagram has shared over 40 billion photos.

Videos aren’t to be overlooked as they may not be as common as photos they have a much higher engagement rate 38% higher than image postings.
