Online Marketing – How to Find Money for Marketing that You Don’t Have

Find Money

There is so much talk about digital marketing these days, that it is almost possible to believe any business can afford the campaign it needs or wants. Unfortunately, such an idea is misleading, because while digital marketing is considerably cheaper than the usual offline marketing strategies, the really good ones do cost money.

It’s absolutely true that businesses of every size and stature can afford to use digital marketing, but it needs to be carefully planned according to the available budget and even more importantly, the budget needs to be set properly. The dilemma here is, smaller businesses often do not have the funds they need to set the necessary budget!

You Can Refunnel Money to Your Marketing Budget by Cutting Out Unnecessary Expenses

There is no doubt about the fact that planning a digital marketing campaign with a bigger budget will produce better results, but that’s just common knowledge. The good news is that while the most ideal campaign may not always be affordable, it is still possible to boost your budget and afford the online marketing you need, simply by cutting unnecessary expenses.

What qualifies as unnecessary expenses will vary from business to business and, more often than not, the business owner can tell where cutting costs is a possibility, without hampering productivity.

Reducing Utility Expenses: Power and Gas

If there was one common point where most SMEs in the UK would be able to save money, without having to shrink their productive capacity in any way, it would have to be power and gas.

Unfortunately, most small business owners are unaware of the fact that they can effectively and, almost assuredly, reduce the current rate of electricity for business which they are paying, alongside the cost of business gas.

It’s true that power and gas costs have gone up quite a bit in the last few years, and commercial ventures have had it the worst. That, however, doesn’t mean you cannot get a cheaper quote to purchase the required electricity for business.

Competition is quite fierce among business energy providers in the country, so there’s certainly room for professional negotiators to get a better rate for you than the one you are paying now, for both commercial energy and gas. In case you have not signed up for any contracts yet, the opportunities for negotiation are even better.

Cutting Costs without Firing People

This one’s a bit tricky, as we usually associate cutting costs with firing some of the staff, which in truth, could be helpful in some situations. That being said, since we are talking about small companies and not multinational conglomerates, such extreme measures may neither be necessary, nor would it likely be feasible.

What you can do is employ a freelancer strategy for at least some of the staff, or for any new staff which you may need. Freelancers only get paid for the work that they do, which means that your employees are not on the payroll. They retain their jobs, get paid for the work that they actually do, and you are able to cut down on staffing expenses.

Marketing is supposed to be a constant endeavour, but unless that effort fits both the budget and the needs of the organisation, it’s a waste. On the other hand, when you decide to funnel new funds into your marketing budget by cutting costs where it doesn’t affect productivity, you have not increased your expenses at all. Instead, you have just managed to boost your marketing efforts by saving money which you were losing without even realising!
