Indeed, according to a recent report by WebBuilderExpert, the number of unique digital shoppers rose about 40% year-on-year in 2020, with e-commerce sales as a percentage of retail sales in the US jumping to 16%.
Brands that witnessed the most significant growth include eBay, whose revenues rose 25% between July 2019 and July 2020. Amazon, Target, and Walmart also reported substantial increases in revenues.

The WebBuilderExpert report also highlights certain e-commerce trends and patterns that may be of interest to digital-first brands.
For instance, most e-consumers are shopping for digital entertainment devices and services (24%), apparel (15%), and home improvement products (11%). Only about 4% thought about holiday travels.
It also emerges that most people will do most of their shopping online for the foreseeable future. For instance, in the health and beauty category, there are signs 24% more people will buy whatever they need online than in-store during this past holiday season.
