Words That Get Your Content Shared on Social Media

the surprising words that get content shared on social media

Another brilliant inforgraphic by our colleague Neil Patel at QuickSprout.com

Marketers can drive traffic to their social media and make their content more engaging by using words that persuade readers to like, share and comment on their posts. This week’s infographic tells us exactly which words get more engagement on each social network.

  • On Facebook, posts with calls to action or that convey benefits to the reader, such as “win” and “event,” work better than salesy language such as “contest” and “coupon.”
  • LinkedIn users should use results-based action words such as “improved” and “accomplished” rather than descriptive terms such as “strategic” and “driven.”
  • Action words also do best on Google+, where “promote,” “discover,” and “share” encourage users to engage.
  • Twitter readers prefer “help,” “free” and “post” over “how to,” “follow” and “top,” suggesting that they, too, avoid overly promotional content.

The common link among these shareable words is that they evoke positive sentiments and encourage interaction. Social media marketers who review their posts with this in mind can greatly enhance their content’s reach.

Social Media Branding Strategies For Facebook

Facebook is one of the biggest social sites online – boasting around 600 million users. So when it comes to marketing your business online or trying to brand yourself, Facebook is one of the best places to be!

I found this awesome infographic from FISWebDesign.com. It shows some great strategies for branding your Facebook page.

Here’s a quick summary of some social media branding strategies for Facebook:

  • Set your vanity URL. Instead of being facebook.com/23456789 you can use your business name such as Facebook.com/yourbusinessname. This will also become your Facebook email address ie; yourbusinessname@facebook.com
  • Professional pictures help brand your business and who you are. Even if you have to copy it from another social site, this is fine, as long as its either you or pertains to your business ie; your logo, your motto, etc.
  • Always fill in ALL the details of your profile. Facebook has a lot of profile options so make sure you include an about us, support email, website link, links to other social sites, etc.
  • Use your fan page to comment on posts, help people out with questions they may have on other fan pages, be an authoritative figure without being a know it all!
  • Add your Facebook URL to newsletter themes, emails (personal and otherwise), other social sites, your business cards, letterheads and more.

Why We Engage on Facebook

Why We Engage on Facebook

Why We Engage on Facebook

People engage on Facebook for a variety of reasons. Individuals like to keep in contact with old friends, colleagues, or classmates, others to participate in online discussions, and some to just keep up with everyday trending news.

There are many personal reasons people are using Facebook but what about the psychological reasons?

As humans, we use Facebook to express empathy, show who we are and what we stand for, give our opinions on topics, fulfill gaps in companionship, and to share our deepest thoughts and emotions.

10 Killer Tips for Boosting Engagement on Facebook

10 Killer Tips for Boosting Engagement on Facebook

10 ways boost facebook

Engagement is the elusive, magic ingredient that will take your Facebook page from invisible to being seen everywhere! Our friends over at Digital Information World shared this educational infographic on “10 Ways to Boost Your Facebook Page Engagement“. I thought it was so good that I’m sharing it with you. There may be some basics … but it’s always good to double check and make sure you’re covering them all.

Here are 4 points I think you should pay attention to:

  1. Stay focused and specific
3 – 5 posts per day will do it. Don’t overload people.
  1. Be eloquent
Short, sweet to the point. People are rushing through their lives, make your post easy to scan and read quickly.
  1. Share your fans content
Use pictures of real fans using your product or service, link to your fans business page if they have one. People love to see themselves in the limelight.
  1. Be persistent and consistent
I don’t think this can be said too much. I wonder about all the people that have quit posting because they didn’t see any engagement … but if they had just stayed in the game their next post would have gone viral. Post on a regular basis and schedule and don’t let doubt and fear make you stop posting.
