Below is our Q & A from TabSite’s Facebook webinar:

Facebook Webinar Questions Log

Q: If you are already a friend with someone on Facebook, are you automatically subscribed to their updates?
A: Yes, you are. Note that non-friends can “Subscribe” to you only if you have enabled this in your Facebook profile settings.

Q: I just set up a Facebook “business” account. Does all the content about Profiles you are describing apply?
A:If you mean that you setup a business login that is just linked to a fan page and is not a Profile (Profiles are what the general population has) then no, this does not apply, as business account logins only give you access to a fan page.and they do not have the Ticker or Timeline.

Q: Are you notified if someone subscribes to your feeds? Similar to when you were friended?
A: Yes, you can be notified and yes based on your Facebook settings for notifications, and, yes, you can see all those subscribed to you.

Q: In the new Facebook Timeline, can friends see pictures you have posted in the past and since deleted?
A: Hi. It depends on how you have your settings set in your Facebook Profile.

Q: Will this be an option or will all users be forced to adopt the Timeline?
A: According to what we read and hear, it sounds like all will be “forced” to accept the new Facebook Timeline!

Q: Please talk about the need for secure sites for things like blogs that post to your page. If blog is not hosted on secure site viewer will get a message saying site is not secure?
A. All content on TabSite servers used on fan pages is served securely. We pull in content from blogs via RSS feeds into custom tabs and this content is fine. However if you have images hosted externally but used on a custom tab, then that external server serving the image needs to be https compliant with a SSL or there will be an issue.

Q: Does it (a fan page wall post) only get in their timeline if they comment on your posting?
A: No, your page posts can appear in someone’s Timeline who has Liked the page but that chance of being seen increases with more interaction (comments).

Q: So if we have TabSite, do you think it would be more beneficial to have a fully implemented info tab if Facebook moves to have Timeline on Pages replacing the current Info text or a good “Welcome” page tab?
A: Both! The Welcome tab is vital because you want to get the “Like” and intro what your page is about. It’s a great “What’s New” and “Why this is important” statement on your fan page while the Info tab is important information about your company.

Q: I have close to 5000 Facebook friends and each time I try to like soneone I get a notice saying I cannot because I have 5000 friends. I don’t have 5000 but did at one time. What’s wrong here and how can I correct this?
A. We’d recommend you need to contact Facebook. Mari Smith has a great list of Facebook forms and contact info you can use. Go to her blog to find it, www.MariSmith.com.

Q: What about my donate button? It’s FBML, how do you do it on TabSite?
A. Great question. FBML is going TOTALLY away. You can’t add new FBML tabs now and come January 1 you won’t be able to edit existing ones and then in June of 2012 Facebook is removing them completely so it is important to get rid of all FBML tabs and move to a solution such as TabSite that uses Facebook’s recommended iFrame app tabs. With the Gold Plan of TabSite you can easily embed code for a donate button.

Q: Question about secure hosting. How does this impact TabSite pages?
A. TabSite pages are all delivering secure SSL compliant content. This is no issue for TabSite. We have been secure and SSL compliant for many months.

Q: Flock to Tabsite! … lol [speaker@jeffkorhan.com]
A. That’s it Jeff! Yes, TabSite is a great alternative to the soon-terminated Facebook FBML tabs.

Q: Do you have any plans to integrate a polling/contest feature in TabSite? Or shopping cart feature like Payvment?
A. Hi Michelle. Yes, we have plans for both. We’ve had some initial discussions with Payvment about integration options and we have a work plan for both contest and polling widgets. We don’t currently have a go-live date but they are on the roadmap.

Q: What TabSite plans include the “like gate” feature?
A. Like-Gate from TabSite is available at the Gold Plan level.  See all features for each TabSite plan here: www.TabSite.com/pricing.

Q: Any TabSite specials for non-profit organizations on the gold membership fee?
A. With a free plan already offered and even our top plan at a reasonable $15/month, we do not have other special non-profit prices.

Q: Does your TabSite Like-Gate require a “Like” to continue or after landing on the Like Gate page, can the visitor continue to explore the pages without Liking it?
A. As with any fan-gating, Facebook does not allow us to force a Like before they see any other content. The user coming to the Like-Gate always has access to the fan page navigation on the left and so they can bypass the “Like-Gate” if they choose and go, for example, to the wall. They would not be able to see your content behind the Like-Gate, however, unless they like your page.

Q: Yay to ready-made templates 🙂 That is huge and will be really great!
A. I guess that’s not really a question but we appreciate the support and hope to roll out templates in the 4th quarter of this year.

Q: So, the “Like Gate” is essentially the page that appears for non-fans when they click on your page, correct?
A. Yes, that is correct. With the TabSite Gold Plan you can use any of our features to customize a Like-Gate on your default tab. So you can have a image, text, video, etc, that is just visible to those who have not “Liked” the page and upon “Liking” it the page reloads to display your tab content.

Q: What is the best way to set up & manage TabSite pages for multiple clients without them having to set up their own account? Can “I” have multiple accounts (one for each client) and pay for them all with the same payment method? When will the white label option be available?
A. Yes, you can sign-up multiple clients, each fan page needs a TabSite Plan for it. You can then manage them all from your one login to the TabSite Manager and you can extend Admin privileges to any client for their fan page if you desire. See details here: See detailed instructions: http://blog.tabsite.com/post/424/Adding-a-Standard-or-Master-Admin-to-Your-TabSite. We basically have 2 plans for designers and agencies, a Partner Program (affilitate plan) and a pure White Label we are wrapping up. Details of each are:

1. TabSite Partner Program – This is a affiliate program where you sign-up, get a unique sign-up url, and get 20% recurring commission for all TabSite plans signed up via this url. In your TabSite Manager you can then see all sign-ups. URL for full information: www.TabSite.com/become_a_partner.php. So the normal plan prices apply and you get 20% of those purchases when signed up via your url. You can manage all from one manager area and add unlimited Master Admins to any plan so that your team or the client could access the custom tabs in TabSite to manage via their own login. Sign-up for a free TabSite plan at minimum first, then apply to the Partner Program.

2. TabSite White Label – This is a pure agency model where you get your own un-branded version. You control all tabs and access to the system and you handle support for your team/clients. We offer you, white label partner, support. It is $249/month for 50 custom tabs to apply to any fan pages and additional pools of custom tabs are 25 for $25/month. There is no automatic sign-up or purchase option in the White Label so that you can handle all sign-ups and charge whatever you want on your own. You can grant access to fan pages to your team as needed and the client if needed.

Both options come with ability for you to manage multiple Facebook fan pages all from your one login.

Q: Can you create a poll and keep as a template and simply change the question each day?
A. With our TabSite Code Widget at the Gold Plan you could embed a poll and do as you outline. We have plans for a poll widget, just not launched yet!

Q: Are we able to add Aweber codes into the customized Tabsite tab linking to our Aweber database?
A. With our Code Widget at the Gold Plan level you can paste into the widget the AWeber sign-up form you create in their platform and this will link to the AWeber database and add sign-ups to the list you have specified. In AWeber, choose the html form option.

Q: Are you going to do a Tabsite 101 for new guys to your service?
A. Yes, our next TabSite Webinar on October 27 is going to be heavy on the demo aspect. We’ll review how to setup and use many of the widgets and outline key features, as well as answer questions.

Q: Can you recommend or like a a specific tab or within your Facebook site. It seems as if someone clicks recommend, share, like it always likes the page in general.
A. You can specify a url to “Like” and so you can have them share, Like, or recommend a particular custom tab by entering the tab url. You can get the tab url under “My Sub-Pages”, or by right-clicking (PC) the tab url in the left navigation on the fan page itself.

Q: Do chat features come in fan Page?
A. We offer the Facebook Comments Social Plug-in for adding comments at this time. With the Gold Plan you can also embed code from other chat systems like RumbleChat.com.

Q: Can I use Tabsite to edit the Facebook Wall?
A. The Facebook Wall is where posts go. You can “Save and Post” from a tab in the TabSite manager to post to the wall.

Q: I don’t have a news ticker yet. How do I get it?
A. Ticker comes automatically.  Here’s a guide to getting the Facebook Timeline now: http://mashable.com/2011/09/22/how-to-facebook-timeline/

Q: I’ve setup a page for a client and it won’t let me make her admin despite her liking the Page & having a personal account with the e-mail address I invited.
A. See detailed instructions on adding a TabSite Admin here: http://blog.tabsite.com/post/424/Adding-a-Standard-or-Master-Admin-to-Your-TabSite

If you have done this, one common mistake is that the e-mail address you enter is not the one they use for Facebook or that they entered when registering for their TabSite account. These e-mail addresses need to match for us to connect the dots. Ask them what they used in sign-up and verify this is what you added in the Master Admin area.

Q: Can you turn off the Timeline function?
A. It does not look like this will be possible. We did notice it does not work on all browsers, like a Safari browser in a iPad. Facebook wants people to use Timeline so once it comes, it will likely be the only option.

Q: My tabs do not seem to get a lot of traffic, only about 30-40 clicks in the last 6 months to a year. Do you have any suggestions to get more clicks on my tabs on our facebook page?
A. You will want to be driving traffic to your fan page. Are you using your blog to drive traffic to the fan page? Do you have clear links on your website to your fan page? Are you posting engaging content on your wall that generates comments and Likes so others interact and your exposure extends? A final suggestion would be to consider Facebook’s Ads or Sponsored Stories to drive traffic to the fan page.

Q: The TabSite MicroSite url has tabsite.com as the domain – are there any moves just to have the microsite customer name in some way? .
A. That is all we offer at this time with TabSite. However, that is a good suggestion and something we could potentially do in the future with enough requests for it!

Q: Can we help other people manage their free TabSite page without us using their Facebook login / profile?
A: Yes, use the add TabSite Master Admin under Account Info area in the TabSite manager. See detailed instructions on adding a TabSite Admin here: http://blog.tabsite.com/post/424/Adding-a-Standard-or-Master-Admin-to-Your-TabSite

Q: How come I don’t see the ticker on my page? I see it on my personal profile, but not my page
A: Ticker is not on Facebook Pages, just on your profile, News Feed view, and on apps using canvas pages. This is a Facebook decision.

Q: Do you think Facebook will ever get rid of fan pages? Every so often I hear rumor of it. I don’t believe it but it is FB and you never know.
A: We don’t think so. They want businesses on Facebook and want people to spend all their on Facebook as the “go to place” so having fan pages always makes sense as it allows businesses to expand their presence right on Facebook for users to get all they need from them right there.

That’s the basics from our TabSite Webinar on October 4. If we didn’t answer your question fully or you want to ask another question, feel free to post on our fan page wall! www.Facebook.com/TabSiteFanPage
