When Facebook made a change in their mobile platform a few months back to unify m.facebook.com and touch.facebook.com under a common “m.” platform, they changed the way a iPhone could view fan pages.
By default iPhone users browsing Facebook in Safari could view a limited, mobile version of Facebook centered on the News Feed. That’s great for many but I prefer the Facebook iPhone app for that. For me, though, the issue was browsing custom tabs. I couldn’t do it easily. As Developers, we want need to see our custom fan pages anywhere, anytime. I help provide support to users as well, so being able to view their fan page while on the go is crucial. Fortunately, Facebook has made a way for us to view custom fan pages tabs within the new mobile platform.
Here’s a quick tutorial on how to get to fan page tabs while using your iPhone.
1. Open Safari and go to www.Facebook.com and click on the “More” dropdown.
2. Scroll Down the “More” menu to the bottom and select “Desktop Site”. This changes your mobile view to the traditional computer screen view.
3. The view will change and then you can navigate as you do on your computer. Use the Facebook Search bar to find your fan page, and then you’ll see and can select the custom tab you want as exemplified below. With TabSite, features like Fan/Non-Fan Content, PhotoShow and more all work just fine! So enjoy custom fan page tabs while using your iPhone!
So that’s it! A quick way to view your Facebook fan page tabs on your iPhone!
