TabSite Launches iFrame Widget

iframe_widget.pngOur goal at TabSite is to continue to bring businesses and organizations innovative and useful fan page tools to make customizing and managing your fan page easier and faster.

We are excited to offer the iFrame Widget.

The iFrame Widget makes it easy to “frame” outside content within your fan page.  This new widget is available to all TabSite users at the Silver and Gold Plan levels.

Users can now bring in outside content to their fan page by simply dragging the iFrame Widget into their Page builder area in the TabSite Manager.  A box will open allow you to enter the url of the outside webpage that is to appear on the fan page.   Then simply drag your widget to resize the height and width, and TabSite pulls in your outside content.

Since Fan Page’s have a maximum width of 520 pixels wide, any content your are bringing in wider than this will be visible via horizontal scrollbars.

Have a mobile site?  Simply grab the mobile url and use it in the iFrame Widget to bring all your mobile content to your Fan Page!

See it in action on the Da-Lite Screen fan page.  Again, this is available to all users at the Silver and Gold Plan levels!

Fan Pages Move From FBML to iFrames March 11 – TabSite Ready!

FB_Pages.jpgFacebook Fan Pages received a makeover this week!

All pages will move to the new format on March 10.

One of the major changes announced to page admins is the fact that FBML apps, and the code language of FBML as a whole, will be deprecated – which means it will no longer be a code that is utilized and accepted on the Facebook platform.  Instead, they are moving to iFrames as the core for all tab apps.

LargeLike.jpgThe deadline given by Facebook is March11th.

And starting March 11th, you will no longer be able to create new FBML apps for your Facebook Fan Pages, including the Static FBML App.

Existing FBML apps will continue to work as normal for the near future (including Static FBML apps), you just won’t be able to create any new FBML apps.  This is significant as thousands of people have used Static FBML and while they will work now, there is clear potential that Facebook will stop allowing even previously created ones at some point, forcing everyone to move to iFrames.

What does iFrames mean for TabSite?

This is where the news gets real exciting!  TabSite is iFrame ready!

In place of the limited code language of FBML, we’ll get full HTML, javascript, and iFrame capabilities for customizing a Facebook Fan Page.

This means TabSite will be able to roll out new features without limitations imposed by Facebook!

All TabSite accounts will continue to work with no issues!  So, if you have a Static FBML App, we encourage you to check-out TabSite as a great alternative.  Our iFrame launch is just around the corner and beyond that we have some great new tools coming this spring.

Expect new and more features from TabSite after March 11 when the change happens!
